Ride Group: F5

What kind of rider are you?

I love to compete and have been racing for over 30 years across multiple disciplines, including mountain biking XC, road racing, alpine sportives, cyclocross, time trialling, gravel bike racing and triathlon. I like nothing more than riding on the rivet as they say in cycling.

How often do you ride?

I try and ride every day if possible or some form of cross training.

Why do you ride?

Cycling is such a multi-dimensional sport. Of course there is the focus, the desire to push yourself and the endorphin highs from training and racing but cycling is so much more than that.  Add in the equipment, the technical side of riding, the riding sensation, the sense of adventure and the opportunity to spend time with like-minded friends and it is such an enjoyable and rewarding sport. Cycling also allows me to ‘switch off’ which is so important given the pressures of daily life!

Do you have any cycling targets this year?

I will be trying to qualify for the 50-54 age group world gravel bike championships again this year and have 3 qualification races in the diary. Hopefully I can line up in Nice in October.

When you’re not cycling, what do you get up to?

I love spending time with my family, skiing and playing golf. There isn’t much time for anything else!
