What kind of rider are you?

Before joining Forge I had been commuting to work by bike and was a member of a social cycling club. I wanted to improve my riding technique and fitness, and meet more like-minded people.

How often do you ride?

Although I commute to work by bike, I also try to get out at least 3 times a week. I try to push myself with speed on the Thursday rides, while Sunday rides are geared towards endurance riding (and cake obviously). In early mornings, I also try to get out (summer) or on the trainer (winter).

Why do you ride?

Riding lets me switch off from the stresses of day-to-day life. I find it liberating but also find working towards fitness goals and achieving new personal bests satisfying.

Do you have any cycling targets this year?

I’d like to start a more structured training plan to improve my power and speed. I am working towards joining the F3 group and occasionally try my luck on their rides – everyone has been extremely encouraging. I’d also love to go away on my first cycling holiday.

When you’re not cycling, what do you get up to?

I’m a scientist by day and DJ by night. Music is my biggest hobby so you’ll probably find me in a record shop or behind the decks.
