What kind of rider are you?
I’m not sure that I fit into a cycling pigeon hole. Perhaps the only kind of rider I’m not is a racer (although lots of Forge club members are).
How often do you ride?
I try to ride 2-3 times a week, and since last year I now ride all year round. I prioritise the Sunday club ride with Forge whenever I can.
Why do you ride?
The thing I really enjoy in life is travelling meaningful distances under my own power in the company of others. That might be cycling, but it also could be hiking, ski touring, canoe tripping or sailing (which I’m going to squeeze in that definition!). They keep my physical and mental health where I want it to be and keep a smile on my face. But cycling is the only one I can really access straight from my doorstep.
Do you have any cycling targets this year?
A total distance target of 10,000km for the year; a Strava segment PR target for Boxhill; and a touring target of completing Land’s End to John O’Groats in 10 days unsupported.
When you’re not cycling, what do you get up to?
I’m probably busy planning my next adventure, whatever that might be and whoever it might be with……
